Blood of Spain

Book Review by Brian Cunniffe

BY RONALD FRASER, PIMLICO, £ 12.99

Ronald Frasers book previously published by Penguin has been rereleased by Pimlico retailing at £ 12.99. With a multitude of books dealing with the foreign intervention and the International Brigades, it is all too easy to forget that the vast majority who suffered in this war were the Spaniards themselves. This book redresses the balance somewhat using personal testimonies many hundreds of Spaniards of all political colours, it charts the turmoil leading up to the outbreak of the war and the course of the conflict as seen through the eyes of both combatants and civilians alike. Very readable and a personal favourite, if you missed it first time round, now is your chance.
