We are releasing Volume I of Old Glory's Santa Anna Rules tm (SAR) Warfare in Mexico, 1820-1870 at Historicon 1998 (available through Old Glory). SAR is TWO systems one Tactical, one SkirmishBuck Surdu designed Volume I the Santa Anna Tactical (SAT)Rules (1:30 figure scale) and I designed the Santa Anna Skirmish (SAS) Rules. (1:1 scale) . SAS is in this edition of the AAR and look for something from Buck's Rules in MWAN. Both will have extensive historical and scenario data. Other Activities: CRETE CAMPAIGN in CDIII: John Thomasovich and I are developing a huge Old Glory "Command Decision III-CRETE CAMPAIGN" for debut at Origins and then Historicon 1998. Little Big Horn Game masterd this for Old Glory, lookingforward to doing it agian at Historicon. THE ALAMO Game masterd this for Old Glory, lookingforward to doing it agian at Historicon. 8'x10' table, 1:1 scale, 2,000 25mm figures, 16 players) with Old Glory Alamo Figures and our new SANTA ANNA RULES tm. In the month of May I hit two large events: NASHCON (Little Big Horn) and Andon's EASTCOAST GAMEFAIRE (both Little Big Horn and Alamo) See my reviews below. (Yes I am fully burnt out on Alamo and Little Big Horn, but I am committed to keep it running until Fall In 98, and then I'll move on, thus the Crete Plan?) CON SCHEDULE:
HistoriCon, Lancaster, PA 21 JUL'98 CDIII CRETE CAMPAIGN
HistoriCon, Lancaster, PA 21 JUL'98 HOT'98 (HMGS ORIGINS TEAM 1998) Getting close now to the 4th of July weekend and Origins. We have ORIGINS page and link on our HMGS web site please check it out. http://www.erinet.com/bp/hmgsorig.html I'm directing the HOT'98 for HMGS and Andon. Which included completing the HMGS portion of their PEL (more events than Fall-in or ColdWars). Thus I am pre-scheduling and coordinating the HMGS GameMasters for over 200 events. I will hand that package over to HMGS Great Lakes Chapter for next year [finally]. WATERLOO 1999 I am directing "Waterloo 1999" which will be a one-game convention with 100 players (like Borodino 1992.) 25mm, 1:25 fig-scale, 1'=25m, using V&B[T] (Volley and Bayonet Tactical) Old Glory is sponsoring this Battle of Waterloo for me to eventually take on the ROAD to all the HMGS CHAPTERS. (some day?) The Preliminary Game is Ligny Columbus Day Weekend, OCT'98. VC and AAR Still representing the HMGS National Board of Directors for the HMGS-GI (Military and international at-large membership) I edit and publish two magazines related to that Veteran Campaigner (quarterly HMGS-GI updates) and AAR (Monthly Battle Simulation and Military History Reviews). USMA Prep Wargame Club is running and playtesting the Santa Anna Rules with me, running HUGE VIETNAM Campaign this spring, followed by the CRETE INVASION next fall. We're attending and putting on several local activities, attended POINTCON and Gettysburg in April, and Game Faire in May. I also arrange the Military History OPD's and staff rides, and of course the Tactic's group, which is really 4 clubs: Military Science, Military History, Wargaming, and Reenacting. HOOAH! "MASTERPIECE WARGAMES" NOW here's the most recent and hottest bit of G-2: Next month I will be pitching a "video pilot" for something called "MASTERPIECE WARGAMES" (MPW) to a Cable TV producer. MPW will be a "Great Battles" type show that uses large multi-player wargames and reenactment clips to play up the "WHAT IF" side of military history. If aired, this single activity will increase Miniature Wargaming one hundred-fold within the next three years -- a virtual EXPLOSION of our hobby world wide. Until then, I still consider it "just a hobby." Please, Email me with your input, comments and anything else you'd like to submit. Thanks!
