Gary Brueggeman has updated his website on the tactics and organization of the Roman Army. He has spent a great deal of effort researching this subject and providing a realistic model for what actually happens when to groups of soldiers armed with sharp, pointy weapons engage in combat. Everything is covered here: Roman tactics, Greek phalanx tactics, Celtic/barbarian tactics, formation footprints, soldier spacing, missile ranges, cavalry movements, command and control, causalities, line reinforcement, melee, etc. This is a must for any war gamer interested in the subject.
