Here is the tentative program for the 23d annual National Assembly of the Order of Indian Wars, to be held August 22-25, 2002, Kansas City, Mo.

THE CAVALRY ON THE PLAINS

Two days of tours to Fort Riley (Cavalry Museum, Custer Home), Fort Leavenworth (home of the 9th-10th Cavalry, Museum, Cemetery), and Fort Scott National Historic Site. With an outstanding line-up of Speakers.

Thursday, August 22

Noon Registration.
1 p.m. Welcome and Opening Remarks, Jerry L. Russell, National Chairman.
1:15 p.m. "The Indian Wars of Kansas." Dr. Jerry Brown, Lansing, Kans.
2:15 p.m. "The Frontier Cavalry." LTC (RET) Ed Kennedy, Leavenworth, Kans.
3:15 p.m. BREAK
3:30 p.m. "The 7th Cavalry in Kansas." D.K. Clark, Lansing, Kans.
4:30 p.m. "Medical Care in the Frontier Cavalry." LTC (RET) Dave Chuber, Leavenworth, Kans.
6:00 p.m. COMMAND POST
7:00 p.m. BANQUET/Topic to be announced. MAJ Peter Panzeri, USAR, Korea.

Friday, August 23 (Breakfast on your own)
8 a.m. TOUR: Fort Riley (Lunch on the road)
6:30 p.m. COMMAND POST
7:30 P.M. BANQUET/Topic, speaker to be announced.

Saturday, August 24 (Breakfast on your own)
8 a.m. TOUR: Fort Scott NHS, Fort Leavenworth, Santa Fe and Oregon Trails. (Lunch on the road.)
6:30 p.m. COMMAND POST
7:30 P.M. BANQUET/Topic, speaker to be announced.

Sunday, August 25 (Breakfast on your own)
8 a.m. TOUR: Council Grove, Kaw Indian Mission State Historic Site. (Lunch on the road.)
6 p.m. RETURN TO HOTEL.

This is definitely a fluid program, and subject to specific changes--but the general outline of the meeting will be as shown. If *you* have any suggestions as to sites to be visited on these tours, please let us know. Right now we're in the earliest stages of the planning process, but we want to give you some idea of what's going to be happening at the OIW Assembly next August.
