Crusades 2001 AAR

Napoleonic Battle
Using Carnage and Glory

by Fred Hubig

A Napoleonic Battle using "Carnage and Glory" computer generated wargame rules system played at Crusades 2001. This game was a holding action by the greatly outnumbered but of better quality French vs the massed Russians. The French were to protect a bridge crossing, one side of the river entrenched French facing Russians, the other side a town which is French controlled. The Russians were to get control of or destroy the bridge.

The Russians had 3/4 of there force to face the French entrenchments and 1/4 of their force (controlled by myself) on the opposite side of the river to attack the town side.

The first few turns were artillery on both sides, while the Russian infantry got ready to attack the entrenchments, The attack on the French entrenched was very bloody and took several turns, however Russians took the works and even captured an eagle.

The force I had was attacked very aggressively by cavalry and the Russians reeled back. I did however get a flank attack with my cavalry on the French cavalry while it was eating up my infantry and forced the French to retreat.

In the end Russian cannon and numbers won control and bloodied the French though Russians took a lot of hits. Kudos went to me for flanking French cavalry (fancy braid I guess) and the infantry unit which got the French eagle. -- C&G is highly recommended, a great time was had by all.
