5. Fontenoy and Great Britain's Share in the War of the Austrian Succession, by Francis Skrine: Laurence Wise Publications has reprinted a hard cover copy of this excellent account of the WAS, first published in 1906. There is a limited number of 250 copies and they are only available directly from Wise. I can not recall the price, but I think it might have been in the range of £ 50.00 in the UK. Write to: Pantiles, Garth Lane, Knighton, Powys LD7 1HH, United Kingdom for more information. This book is defimtely worth adding to your own collection, but it will soon be unavailable if you wait too long to order.

6. 1757 Reichenberg and Malleschitz by Neil Cogswell. Neil sent me a copy of his newest publication from Gralene Books. This paperback book is a translation of the Journal of Horace St. Paul covering the period April 10th to May 6th in 1757. As such, the book covers the battles of Reichenberg and Malleschitz (near Prague).

Horace St Paul was an Englishman in the service of the Austrian army, attached to the staff of Marshal von Browne in 1756 and of Charles of Lorraine in 1757. Neil has translated this portion of the diary and has augmented it with many notes, annotations and map plates. There are 67 pages of text and 42 map plates, the latter of which are printed on a slick and glossy paper. The booklet is published in the same manner as MWAN, ie. with a flat ended (spine) binding (OK so I don't know the printers' terminology). The cost is £ 15.00 in the UK and $30.00 in the US. Both prices include postage.

In my mind, this is the best of the three booklets that Neil has published to date, the others being "The War in Bohemia 1756", which covers the Lobositz campaign, and the second being "My Dear St. Paul, Letters 1757-1759". I particularly like the fact that we finally have an English-text source on the action at Reichenberg. I have often seen reference to this fight, but never any information about it in any English book.

Neil includes appropriate maps, orders of battle and unit strengths that will be of interest to both historians and wargamers, especially for recreadng the action as a wargame. Neil also plans to publish future excerpts from Horace St. Paul's journals including the Defense of Prague 1757 and Prince Zweibrucken's journal covering the Reichsarmee in 1758. You can order these books by writing to Gralene Books, PO Box 22, Guisborough TS14 8YQ, United Kingdom. I suspect that readers in North America can also order the books from Daddy Warbooks Division of Old Battlefields Press, 5 East County Road 600 North, Valpariso, Indiana 46383. Phone: (219) 465-7518.

7. The American Revolution Journal: Jim Purky is now publishing a semi-annual digest format booklet on the American Revolution. Each issue will feature a look at one or more battles, include orders of battle, maps, uniform and flag information, and news and events pertaioing to living history re-enactment events. Subscriptions cost $25.00 for four issues published over a two year period. Send your check or cash to Jim Purky at 3127 Park Place, Evanston, IL 60201 USA. Intemational subscriptions add $5.00.

8. Clash of Arms Games: Battle of Leuthen: I just received a copy of the third in a series of boardgames for the SYW from Clash of Arms Games [The Byme Building #205,Lincoln & Main Sts., Phoenixville, PA 19460] [Phone/Fax: 610-935-7622/ e mail: CLASHOFARM@aol.com]. I'll give this a more thorough review in the next issue, sdnce I am running out of space and want to do it justice. The game includes exquisite color maps of the field, colorful counters, and best of all, an historical commentary by Christopher Duffy. I believe the price is $48.00, but call above to confirm.
