Solaks [Archers of the Sultan's Bodyguard (Bogenschutzen-Leibgarde des Sultans)] were a regiment of 400 hand-picked men designated to guard the Sultan on the battlefield. They are depicted wearing spahi-style clothing. The jersey colors (left to right) are white, straw yellow and red. The skirts, sleeves, and turnbacks are dark blue and the leather leggings are either light purple or yellow. The slippers (l-r) are red, yellow and purple. The Solaks' headgear, called a zarcola, is made of while felt trimmed with a gold band and a gold flute, which holds white feathers.
