1. March 1-3, 1985 The third Historical Miniatures Mini Convention at the Sheraton Hotel in New Carrollton, Maryland, near Washington D.C. There are usually a variety of SYW events at this show and so east coast members should contact Pat Condray, 8234 Kings Arm Drive, Alexandria, VA 22308, for details. This show is sponsored by the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society which many of you have read about in "The Courier." Their purpose is to promote historical miniatures wargaming. 2. March 30, 1985 Second Annual Seven Years Association Midwest Meet in Kalamazoo, Michigan, hosted by the Age of Reason Society. See enclosed flyer for specific details; however, all will be at a local Holiday Inn. Our Tod Kershner and Dale Wood have put together a fun-packed day of SYW wargames and activities so we can engorge ourselves to the fullest. The morning session boasts a 25-30mm Charge Project Battle hosted by Rob Oldenburg/Bill Protz, a 25mm French & Indian War Skirmish presided over by Tony Adams and a Naval Battle run by Gary Christensen. The afternoon session will be fuller yet with a 25mm Tricorne Wargame umpired by Rich Black/Hal Thinglum, a 15mm Siege reffed by Bruce Bretthauer, a 15mm Koenig Krieg Engagement led by Greg Novak and, of course, a 25mm Age of Reason Event run by Tod Kershner/Dale Wood set in the North American forests. In addition, The Reiter, a vendor, will be on hand and, hopefully, other vendors as well. Then for the finale, we will gather for a banquet style dinner wherein we will be entertained by a SYW Trivia Contest, taped SYW music, awards, door prizes and other interesting antics. Wow! The opportunity to attend a unique event of this kind should not be missed for where else can one find such a wide variety of SYW events and so many SYW buffs in one spot. Kalamazoo is in southwestern Michigan some two hours northeast of Chicago and about two hours west of Detroit. This means that most members in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, southeastern Ontario and western New York should not have to spend much time driving to and from Kalamazoo. For the rest of you posted not quite so closely, we would hope that business trips or schedules can be arranged so you can attend as well, though the distances are greater. (Drive to Kalamazoo on Friday and return home Sunday.) Finally, I would like to add a note to all manufacturers and vendors who have SYW era products, whether miniatures, books, rules buildings, etc. Should you have an interest to provide door prizes to be given out at the banquet, please send same to the Editor. This will provide you with a marvelous opportunity for exposure of your wares amongst a committed group of historical miniatures wargamers; mention will be made of your thoughtfulness. 3. July, 1985 Origins National Convention in Baltimore, Maryland We understand that historical miniatures events are being organized by the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society. Write Pat Condray as specified in Item 1 above for details and to volunteer as a judge. There has been considerable talk of having an Association gathering at Origins. Ken Burger is thinking of hosting a Tricorne game and your Editor is contemplating a Drums Along the Mohawk Skirmish and a Charge Project Battle. It is our hope that our members will attend in large numbers. Those interested in attending to play in any of the events named or those interested in judging a SYW event of their own should contact the Editor at this time please. Look for more details in the next Newsletter. 4. October 5-6, 1985 Seventh Historical Wargame Weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All midwestern members will receive a flyer concerning this event.
