New Looks

Review and Outlook

by James J. Mitchell

A New Look

I finally found a source for glossy card stock. Thus, starting with this issue, there will be a new look to the Journal. I hope you like the new glossy cover. Yes, I finally fixed the two errors in the preceding ad for the 18th annual (NOT 118th annual) Seven Years War Convention to be held in South Bend. Paul Petri pointed out that the Association is not quite as old as I had indicated. Founding member Bill Protz (who will be putting on a game at the Con this year) will also be glad to know that he's not quite that old either.

SYWA Web Site

The Journal has finally entered the 21st Century. Rich Black has designed a nice web site for me. You can find it at: www.sywajournal.com We will be adding to this page as time goes by.

Concerning This Issue

Although I've been trying to publish the Journal on a quarterly basis, I haven't quite made my expectations; hence the delay in getting this issue to press. My lame excuses are: waiting for members to renew their subscriptions, waiting for certain articles and advertisements, buying a new printer, working on the web site (Rich has shown me how to create additional pages), and, of course, the holidays. Let me reassure all of you that your subscription will entitle you to all four issues of Volume XII regardless of how long it might take to get them in the mail. I still intend to make this a quarterly magazine, however.

Which brings me to mention the fact that I'm really getting short on articles. I hope those members (or non-members) who have a penchant to write will consider putting pen to paper, or finger to computer, and send me something to print. This includes news items as well.

Membership Directory

I'm working on this and plan to mail it with Vol. XII, issue number 2. This will give any latecomers or those who have forgotten to renew and are still doing so a chance to be included.

Next Issue

Barring unforeseen circumstances, I'm aiming for the end of April for the mailing of the next issue. I hope to see many of you at the convention in March (a good spot to give me any articles you may have). Until then I wish you,
