The Last Thing

Editorial

by Dave Watkins

Something of an emergency issue this one! The UK Postal strike has meant that we have lost material in the post, which is just starting to drift in as we go to press -- typical!

Next year is the bicentennial of Napoleon’s Imperial Coronation, and I predict that there will be a boom in matters Napoleonic as interest swells. Already Hollywood has embraced the Naval theme with Master & Commander, so how long before we get a decent major battle as a motion picture? We live in hope!

To that end, can I again urge all contributors to get busy and start submitting articles, reserve your place in history and the grateful thanks of your humble editor today!

As is traditional at this time of year, I would like to take time to thank all of our contributors, without whom First Empire would be 40 blank sheets, and our subscribers without whom there would be no Napoleonic Magazine in publication (as far as I can ascertain anyway!)

Have a Good Christmas and a Happy New Year! Best wishes from all at First Empire! PS. We may be starting next year with a new more colourful format, either 75 or 76.... depends if Santa brings me a new set of crayons or not!
