Readers will have noticed that to mark 100 months of production and 50 issues of First Empire we are holding a world wide party on 31st December - check for millennium events near you! Of course we have had a few problems along the way, from chronic typos, the mysterious repeating paragraphs and the bizarre colour page number effects in issue 49! On the subject of the repeating paragraphs, we have recently had the bizarre allegation by one rather foolish NA member who has publicly stated that these were deliberate and part of some Machiavellian plot to defraud the reader! Where do they get these people from? In fact as we have stated before, it was a software problem, which we have tried to correct manually, but unfortunately with the tight time schedule on which First Empire is produced sometimes they get through. We have now upgraded the software and I hope that this will be a thing of the past. thing of the past. (Joke!) New Projects for the next 50 A couple of things come to mind here. I am considering doing an electronic version of FE, this will come on disc or CD as appropriate but I need some feed back from readers. Would you prefer a hard copy (a magazine) or a full colour disc based version which you can search, print and annotate? Or both? Email or write to me with your thoughts. English my dears is the language of the future, steady there all you French and Germans, I'm sorry but it is. So there is a wealth of Napoleonic material that needs translation and publication. Greenhill are already taking a lead - see their new In the Legions of Napoleon - excellent stuff! - and I've no doubt would welcome submissions from would be translators. If you have any material that you have translated and want to put into the public domain, then a new area on the First Empire (31,000 visitors per month!) web site will be up in the new year where you can post this "new" material. Another free service from First Empire! Finally . . . Have a good new year and Christmas and hopefully the next thousand years will be better for all of us! Vive!
