I must thank everyone who has written to me in the last two months to tell me how much they like the magazine, various comments have included "superb" and "an excellent magazine". The vast majority of the Napoleonic Association seem to like what they get also, so it would appear that I am managing to please most of the people most of the time. Those that I don't please, seem to be indicating that there is nothing in the magazine for them. As First Empire topics include uniforms, organisation, personalities, battles, scenarios, re-enactment, tactics, war-gaming and research, it is hard to imagine what else could be covered. When I put the question to their "lobbyist", I was met with a shrug of the shoulders and an "I don't know".
So I would say that if you have a flash of inspiration why not be brave and drop me a line and let me know what you would like to see in the magazine.
First Empire is a contributing member to the Coalition web whose internet address WWW.MAGWEB.COM. The idea behind this is that for a small monthly fee you can log on via the internet and have access to all the magazines that are on line. At present there are 24 magazines available, now obviously its not the same as a hard glossy copy, but it is nearly as good. As well as four Napoleonic magazines on line, there are general gaming, Seven Years War, fantasy, modern naval, medieval and colonial interest titles available.
Rather stunningly the top rated, i.e. most read on-line, for the last quarter, Napoleonic mag is First Empire, even more impressively out of the 24 magazines available, the top rated magazine is First Empire! The Courier came in second. For those interested, Napoleon came in 5th, Empires Eagle and Lions 10th and Age of Napoleon 13th.
All this I feel, rather reinforces the points made early and my thanks go to all my contributors for their efforts and commitment.
