The Last Thing

Editorial

By David Watkins

You may have noticed a slight change to our format which has meant that we can cram in rather more articles than we usually manage. This means that the number of articles we can publish is increased and as such I need more contributions from you all!!

I hope you will all rally to the cause otherwise I shall have to use terribly obscure battles from the North West frontier! During November last year, I attended (with Ed. Conc. in tow) the Peninsula Study Day at Winchester College. I can recommend to all readers that you should try and get along to at least one of these events a year, whether you're in the N.A. or not! The lecture given by Ian Fletcher certainly enlightened me on the nature of Peninsular battlefields (and that wasn't even the subject of the talk!) and Jack Gill certainly brought to everyone's attention the contribution made by the Confederation to Iberian theatre - I also got the impression that quite a few of the intellectual elite were educated to the fact that the war wasn't fought by the English and the French back and forth along a narrow channel. Look out for details over the coming months of next event, and go along. Anorak not required!
