  1. Morning,

I have come across the rules for the WW2 air war wargame. I am intent on using them, but what size play area do you use it seems larger than the usual table in pictures.

The other thing that has crossed my mind, is the question of targets and bombing. In the rules it suggests that a squadron of 3 aircraft in formation is spread over 5 hexes. Do you mark a “target” on the map that is say 6 hexes across.

    Many thank

    Dennis

      Hi Dennis,
I am happy to hear that someone is interested. We have played our bombing missions on 6X8 feet tables. The bomber formations were quite big to fit into a more standard 6×4 table, but you might try to move back the formation, say 20 hexes very few moves, or you may try smaller scenarios. We have tried medium bomber raids with fewer planes and they were as well rather satisfying.
About bombing, we have used targets much smaller than 6 hexes across. We have scattered in a small area a few one, two or three hexes target. The bombers may choose to align over target, but formation is maintained. After all it would be sufficient to hit the target with a single bomber, and bombing in general was rather carpet-like. Please feel free to change as you see fits to your likings, wee will be happy if you let us know. Regards, Stefano
