An<br>aggressive advance by the 36th Infantry Division began to<br>breach the German&#8217;s defensive line. On October 23rd, while<br>advancing through heavily wooded terrain, the 1st battalion of the 141st Infantry Regiment was overrun by a locai counterattack and trapped 3 km behind enemy lines.
