A Bloody Big Battle! We are playing the Chancellorsville scenario by Chris Pringle. I spent some time preparing the terrain. The following day the battle began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hear the Chancellorsville battlefield. I decided to be minimalistic and build a sort of map with few scenic material.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Here the situation after the first two moves, where a large union force can be seen manoeuvring around the Chancellorsville area. A strong hook on the left of the confederate army is developing<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The situation on the Fredericksburg are is rather static, not even the artilleries are firing on the enemy entrenchments.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The end of the first day sees the definition of the battlefront. Confederates are forming a defence line centred around Tabernacle Church. Stuart’s cavalry is covering the extreme left flank.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Here the situation at the beginning of day two. Some repositioning has happened from both sides, to further exploit the right envelopment from the unions. The confederates instead have redeployed one division with some artillery on the far left flank.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The high peak of the second day has been so far the confederate charges of Jeb Stuart and one infantry division, aimed at breaking the pressure on the extreme left of the Southern Army. The charge, along the Catharpin Road, nearby Aldrich, gained a local retreat of the Union infantry but the cost was very high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The headlong charge of Jeb Stuart and his cavalry division gave a strong support but none of the cavalry regiments managed to cross sabres with the northern bayonets. The cavalry division ceased to exist at about midday of the second day of battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
