Dear David, Please inform your readers of a correction to my article, "Rank and Command Structure in the Civil War," which appeared in a recent issue of The Zouave. Lieutenant General Richard Taylor was the last Confederate commander to surrender east of the Mississippi. Of course, General Kirby Smith commanded the Trans-Mississippi Department at the end of the war, and was the last significant Confederate general to surrender west of the Mississippi. This was not a major point in my article, but is should be corrected. Original Article on Rank and Command Related Back to The Zouave Vol X No. 1 Table of Contents
