As the Union blockade tightened and as ports were captured, more troops received only a partial issue of clothing and had to rely on captured goods and gifts from home. The uniformity of the armies probably began to fall off considerably at this time. There is a high mixture of civilian and captured clothing once again. Backpacks may not be in use at all, and troops may have to rely on home for blankets once again. Copyright 1995 by the American Civil War Society |
