Battles of the Civil War
Volume 1

"Glory Enough for All"
1861- 1862

Review by Steve Straub

This eighty-five page, spiral-bound scenario book gives us a look at many early ACW battles that are generally overlooked by many gamers. I found it very enjoyable and interesting to read. From Big Bethel to Williamsburg, the scenarios cover early Civil War action.

The advantage here is the wealth of information that each scenario provides. Included are orders of battle, unit strengths, unit ratings, victory conditions, scenario descriptions and the results of the actual historical battles.

Many of these battles can be played using popular regiment-based rules systems. First Manassas and Pea Ridge have Fire & Fury variants also. The maps are hand-drawn and are easily readable. These scenarios are designed to put the gamer in the place of a commander on the field. In my opinion, the designer has succeeded.

A tip of the kepi to Daniel Johnson for this book. I am looking forward to the next volume.
