Keepers Kornered

by Jonathan Keepers

First off, thanks to Orval Darrow, Mike Moss, Wyatt Kappels and others for the fine time I had at ArtyCon VII. While it is not primarily an historical miniatures event, they always have a strong showing - oh, and Pizza. You can wander Fort Sill (which I do while lost - looking for the Cassion Community Ceater), viewing both past and present aircraft, helos, vehicles, and artillery pieces. Or, you might pay your respects to Geronimo's grave, and visit the Fort Sill Museum (ask for TA member Mark Megehee, maybe he'll have time to give you a tour). It's the little con that happens every Columbus Day weekend. so circle your '97 calendar for next year.

Roger Dospil of Division After Division told me he has new Feudal Casting releases, adding more Scots Archers with separate claymores (Be still my Brave Heart), and War of the Roses Englishmen in 15mm. Roger also has an expanding range of 10mm lines. Call or write him for details (see new address and phone in my last column). Speaking of Scots, the Quarter Master owner Steve Quinn has additions to his English Falcon line of 15mm Scots ponies for pikemen. Now Braveheart's lads can trundle after Longshank's fleeing forces.

Coming up on Sunday Dec. 14th at 2:00pm at Game Headquarters, SW 89th and Penn, Pat Sweeney, John Elansen, Paul Shell, Jeff Lawrence, Craig Dobbins, myself and any other painters I can talk into showing up are going to Paint an army in a Day! We'll be painting up a 350 point DBM army of later Carthaginian forces provided by Minifigs, which will later be auctioned off at Twister Con V to help raise money to bring in guests for future Historical Retreats, Punic Wars, and Twister Cons.

So, if you want to help, kibitz or just watch Santa's helpers slap paint around, bring your brushes, paint and Yule time spirits.

Minifigs

If you don't know already, Minifigs is alive and living with Ral Partha in Cincinnati. Not only are they alive, they are getting better and better, with an influx of new designs and molds from England. Jeanne Hasslebrock (Minifig's rep) said they will be releasing more Napoleonics and ACW both in 15 and 25mm, after which new Ancients and Medievals will be coming out.

Good news for the DBM/R/A addicts amongst us. Minifigs will also be changing some of their packaging and prices. More figures for less money! Yes, it's true Virigina! 15mm Napoleonics coming out, include 2 French Cav, 1 French infantry, 2 British Infantry 1 British Cavalry, and 2 Prussian infantry and 1 Prussian Cavalry, all new at $19.95 for 100 infantry or 40 cavalry figures per pack.

As Roger Dospil said, "Minifigs has a clue!" I hope to see you all at Historical Retreat. Remernber to shut up and roll the dice (or build the church - ed ).
