Welcome to Issue #23! This time we have a lot of good stuff for you Check out the siege warfare rules by Bob Duncan. These are designed to work with whatever rule set you may customarily use. Those of us who find interest in the subtleties of the siege have always lamented that we could only play out the assaults. Now the conduct of the siege: mining, sorties, bombardment, all the fun stuff is controlled by the opposing players and not dictated by the umpire. These are dynamite rules, try them out. For fans of the old plastic 54mm figures we have gladiatorial rules from Ken Van Pelt. The bare bones of a hypothetical 19th century naval great war are presented along with an overview of naval architecture during the half-century, seeing the most rapid changes in naval technology in history. It is an epic scale rumble pitting the allied forces of Great Britain, Turkey and Austria against upstart French, Russian and Italian challengers to the Pax Brittanica. We have columns from John Hansen on painting, the nostalgic ravings of Jonathan Keepers, the return of our fearless leader Jeff Lawrence and other manic ramblings. I encourage everyone to send in survey responses. We have gotten about 15, not counting my own or those of several individuals I can blackmail into responding. So far we have gotten good reviews for Tornado Alert! The chapter seems to meet the requirements of all the members who have responded so far. Be warned: we have so far not received a single complaint about raising dues to help finance the magazine and more game events. Your opinions matter, so respond.
