GDW is ceasing operations. The Chicago company stopped selling product January 19th and is expected to shut down completely by February. The miniatures games JOHNNY REB and HARPOON have both reverted to their owners, John Hill and Larry Bond. GDW was founded in 1973 as Game Designers Workshop. Wizards of the Coast (you know, the guys that make MAGIC) have done away with their RPG's and fiction lines. In the process firing about 30 people. WotC has stated that they will not be producing RPG's at all. They will be doing deckmaster games, electronic games and "events". January 3, 1996, White Wolf Games Studio laid off about 15 employees from all sections of the company, according to Tracy O'Conner, former Editing & Development Coordinator for WWG.
