Far removed from the toy soldier of old, in the last forty years the Historical Miniature has entered its own as an art form. No other medium so expresses the emotion and color of history, especially military history, as the miniature; history in color, history in three dimensions, from famous kings and emperors to the lowliest private or foot soldier. As with any art form, the miniature has both masters, many of whom are serious artists, and amateurs, who paint only for fun and relaxation. There are national and international shows.
