The seven chapters cover The Campaign for Gaul AD451; Charles Martell & the Battle of Tours AD732; Brian Boru and the Battle of Clontart AD1014 (Ireland & The Vikings); The Campaign for England AD1066; Robert Guiscard vs Alexius Comnena AD1081- 1085 (The Challenge to Byzantium); The First Crusade AD1097-1099; and the Campaigns of Saladin & Richard I AD1187-1191. The appendix offers a chronological listing of battles for the period. In this section, information concerning the battle, victory level (marginal, tactical, strategic, or decisive), factions (opposing armies), army size/losses, leaders/losses, battle factors (generalship, morale, numerical superiority, tactically superior, superior technology, inept leadership, rout), and troop information.
