Readers, awhile back I suggested that folks interested in colonial gaming look into The Heliograph. The following letter was received from the editor of that fine journal.--Kenn Hart I am grateful for the opportunity to tell the SWA readership about The Heliograph. The Heliograph has been published for more than ten years and is a newsletter about gaming in the Colonial period. Originally, it was conceived to publish information about scenarios and figures available for The Sword and the Flame rules. Historical articles were also welcome but the newsletter did not depend on them as Savage and Soldier more than adequately took on that responsibility. The current basis for The Heliograph concerns - rules updates, reviews and scenarios of any rules system, figure reviews, and books, hobby magazine and movie reviews. Generally, any information related to the colonial period will be relayed to the readership. The Heliograph is published bi-monthly and averages forty pages an issue. The current issue #95 contains eighteen pages of review material on 22 manufacturers and retailers, and articles on Gunga Din (the movie) and GDW Soldier's Companion official and optional rules up-date. Future issues will contain a partial listing of western movies, campaigning ideas, German's in Africa plus a variety of articles. Past issues have included a listing of titles of 109 colonial period movies and gaming scenarios. With a much expanded Heliograph, the reappearance of Savage and Soldier and the constant arrioval of new figures for the colonial gaming market this seems to be the best time to join us and enjoy a very colorful period.
