WWII Skirmish Rules

These rules have been well playtested. 14 pages, a card resume and sample order sheet you can photocopy. Tables include Movement - run, running crouched, walk, walking crouched and crawling

Acquiring Targets. Acquiring Firing Target - This means what you can hit where when firing HMG/LMG, small arms, bazooka or Flame Throwers, in the open or in various cases. There are no defined base sizes (Rule writers are finding that interested wargamers maybe put off if they are stuck with one designated system of basing. Common sense really). Generally these rules are designed as PB1 battles where Tommy and Fritz or whoever else has to get stuck in eyeball to eyeball. (As my Infantry Training Sgt said to me:- "If you do that to 'im and he still gets up - you'd better not be there!")

These rules can be used for 54mm, 25mm, 20mm, and 1 Smm using the adaptations outlined. One must use 2 % dice i.e. marked one to 10 or nought. Tape measure and some markers 20mm x 20mm made out to indicate the movement rate of the figures. Also needed are markers to indicate wound status. (One can actually use the casualty figures supplied by most manufacturers these day for this!) An aspect of these rules I like is that examples are given to illustrate them a la "Charge".

Section 2. Order of Play
Sectlon 3 Suppressing Fire. (I wish rule writers would use "Winning the Fire Fight". SF is American.)
Section 4 Communications. Radio and speaking distance etc.
Section 5. Movement.
Section 6. Acquiring Targets - or Seen" (Roll 2 % dice to see if you can. ) Two tables provided for this.
Section 7. Firing Table used with 2 % dice.
Section 8. Close Combat. You either get a red haze and go for the enemy or meet by accident. What weapon you have, is stated and whether you are a Vet., Elite. Novice, wounded etc. will modify your survival chances.
Section 9 Casualties. All the real market details.
Sectlon 10 Morale. Two examples here to assist understanding. All seems logical.
Section 11. Support Weapons. Up as high as mortars. Other modifiers are Smoke, Minefields and Booby Traps.
Sample Order Sheet, made out.

I've done a couple of sets of WWII rules myself and these look worth a go. Very good illustrations by the way. Gary and Tony Fever. I recommend these rules. Available from 17 Rotunda Road, Eastbourne, E. Sussex, BN23 6LE (3.50 pounds + 50p P&P)
