JOURNAL REVIEW:

The Zouave

According to information provided by our SWA members, a lot of you Lone Warriors are interested in the American civil War. Therefore, I want to bring your attention to a fine organization, The American Civil Wargaming Society, and its journal, The Zouave. The following are extracts from a flyer provided by David Reynolds, editor and publisher of The Zouave.

We want to introduce you to the fastest growing miniature organization in the world. The ACW Society was born in 1987 due to the lack of a forum or magazine strictly devoted to gaming in the American Civil War. From the first issue of our magazine, The Zouave, it was obvious that the Society filled a void. Now we have members in 49 states, 5 Canadian Provinces, and such nations as England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia ... all because of our professionally printed quarterly magazine!

With nine years of publishing behind us, it would be difficult to name on one page all the articles that have appeared in the pages of The Zouave. However, to give you an idea of its content, we have published forty scenarios geared to the various popular rules sets such as Johnny Reb, On to Richrnond, Stars 'N Bars, and Fire and Fury. In addition we have included reviews of rules sets, castings, books, films, and terrain systems etc. In addition to our magazine, we have published Shenandoah, the first campaign system printed for use with any rules sets covering the Civil War.
