Reviews:
25mm Wellington's Indian Battles Range

from Redoubt Enterprises

by David Barnes

This release pretty well wraps up the "Indian Battles" range and I would say these quality figures finish it on an excellent note and in no way a "tail off." I will list them, make remarks and draw a few.

Native Cavalry

NC 55. Native Cavalry in mail armour, helmet shield hand open at sidetlo hold lance. See p.28 "Wellington in India - A Wargamers Guide", C.S. Grant & S. Asquith for a drawing.

NC 56. Native Cavalry in turban, coat, shield, holding bow at side. A small horseman's recurved bow, quiver on his right hip, bowcase on his left. A good general figure which could be used in many eras - as can several others of these native horsemen.

NC 57. Native Cavalry in turban, mail shirt, shield, waving a tulwar sword. On his mail shirt a small breastplate. The head has a strong full beard on my example.

NC 58. Native Cavalry, small turban, mail shirt shield, waving battle axe. A very useful looking horseman's axe.

NC 59. Native Cavalry in turban, mail shirt, open hand held up to hold spear or lance (10 of the latter available NX13 for 1.00 pound). Huge turban and forked beard, quite a character!

NC 60. Native Cavalry in turban. mail shirt. Firing rocket strapped to left arm (two part figure). Very sensible the right anm firing the rocket, i.e. igniting it. is also shielding his eyes. I would think the horse would need to be highly trained and static for the actual momenl of firing (to have any hope of hitting target).

"Extras"

NX 8. Bullock cart, solid wheels (3.50 pounds). "Ladder" style sides. Could also be used in the Peninsular. (already reviewed NX 3, Pair of bullocks (3 pounds)

NX 9. Camelier on camel with bag of rockets (4 pounds). More like a huge quiver of rockets. The camel looks just like camels do: awkward, obstreperous and - a camel! The rider holds a rocket in his right hand and has 3 in the "quiver".

NX 10. Tiger mortar wilh three crew (5 pounds). Two piece mortar (like the one in The Tower Armory, London) and three turbaned crew; one standing with the bomb, one with a map, one with a lintstock touching off the weapon. A good group.

NX 11. Wellington and aide on horses and officer on foot. Sir Arthur is gesturing with his bicorne. His aquiline nose is well stated. The aide has a plumed bicorne and his right hand on his hip, looking right. The standing officer has a plumed top hat with full crest. He holds a map case under his right arm and looks right. They would look great on a composite base, suitably terrained.

NX 12. British Colonel on horse (3.00 pounds). Not many of these made, so has to be priced accordingly. Man is pointing right, plumed bicorne worn East and West, looking left. Commanding pose.
