I am happy to have some more elegant Essex figures to review at last. I have bought 7YW, AE1, and Carthaginian Ancients in 15 mm in the past and these keep up the high standard. Prices are very reasonable for these days. Infantry pack (8 figs) 1.20 pounds, Command (6 figs) 1.20 pounds, Cavalry pack (4 riders and horses) 1.20 pounds, command (3 each) 1.20 pounds. Equipment packs are individually priced. Min: p&p 1.50 pounds. I will list the figures and comment and then draw a few as usual. This one (none of the bags or figures are marked) looks like MOG5. Heavy/medium cavalry, bow, shield, spear forward (Open hand. spear supplied) barded horse. One has to stick on thc bow & sword combination. The quiver is on the right side. He wears a spire helmet with aventail - "chrysanthcmum" knee cops. Round shield on his left arm. He looks slightly to his right. MOG6. Horsc archers. This one has a beard & turban and is drawing his bow & has just loosed. On his right is his bow case and straight sword. On his left is his capacious quiver and round shield. The horse is a noble animal with flowing mane and tail, cantering. MOG8. Assorted foot archers. Two examples. One standing, having loosed a long bow, turban and loin cloth. A big quiver on his back. A Naga bow man? The second bow man is kneeling, also drawing a long Indian bow with a big quiver on his back, bearded and with a turban. Good pose. MOG9. Assorted spearmen. One example in a turban, bearded and with a loin cloth launching a substantial spear. No other weapon. MOG10. Assorted swordsmen. Two examples. First, in loincloth and turban, sword on right shoulder with a small circular shield. The second wears a Sulu-style garment. Turban, beard, bare chest. A small round shield in his left hand. He waves a straight sword in his right hand. MOG11. Musketeer kneeling (2 types). One available to review. Kneeling with a large musket with a primitive style bipod under the barrel. A very character-ful face amazing in this small scale. Knapsack and short tulwar on his left hip. he wears a smock and trousers. By his head-dress he could come from the pathan home area. These figures are crisply cast, proportionally correct in interesting poses. Drawing not to scale.
