Several items have come to my attention for this issue. First, while we have not moved yet please use my new address (Rt 5 Box 771, Saluda, SC 29138). I can still be contacted at the old address for another year, as it's a box, but change it anyway. Second, where the heck is Wargames Illustrated, I have not seen one since November?? or was that October???????? Geez, maybe my sub ran out. Speaking of missing items. Nearly twenty percent of you have written asking about S&S. I heard from Joe back in early October, that S&S would be out by the end of October. Well, I guess not. On 3 January, I emailed Joe with a query and will report it verbatim in the dispatch column if I get a reply. Late note - I have received nothing from Boeke about S&S ( 19 Feb.). Third, a new subscriber service following the Intelligence report--Supply Column--check it out. [Note--this looks like classified ads and are only available to subscribers of The Heliograph.--RL] Fourth, I received one letter saying that their issue had been mangled in transit by you know who. To alleviate that problem for you I have decided to ship in envelopes. It cuts down on one page but when I have a lot of material I can always shrink the font size and get more to the page. With our move to the farm getting closer and closer I have begun to pack my figures and stuff (ah technological terms) for the move. When I think a'wut my figures, it is generally about the units I have painted and ready for their orders to some distant trouble spot or such. What a shocker, I had not realized I had so many figures unpainted. Chinese, Gurkhas, French and Prussian and more and more etc. etc. etc. I have enough to keep me painting for years, as slow as I am. Sure glad that Cold Wars is coming so I can buy some more figures and books and STUFF. Maybe even play in a game. Maybe not, with over fifty dealers to chose from who has time to game. If you are going to Cold Wars check out the Military History Forum on Saturday that the HMGS Military and Naval History Journal is sponsoring. Next and certainly not least, probably best, is the beginning of a new masthead design by the Heliograph's great friend Ron Lizorty. Ron has provided the Gunga Din material and great photos that I keep inserting. I have left off the cover as such since it is a waste of space for now. This issue is a mix of articles. Next issue will contain at least three rules variants/scenarios using "The Sword and the Flame" rules. If you wish to contribute to TSATF issue please send it to me soon. I most heartfully thank Chris Nelson for the work he put into his Westerns list. The Heliograph is running low on articles so please help me out. The are a couple of short articles for the June issue but nothing after that. I guess I will have to regale you with my travels to military museums in England while conducting research there this summer. Don Featherstone told me at Siege of Augusta that he has a deal with a publisher for a novel, already written, that takes place during the Indian Mutiny, more later. IT'S ALMOST THAT TIME OF THE SUBSCRIPTION YEAR AGAIN FOR MOST OF YOU. IF THE NUMBER ON YOUR LABEL IS 99 AND IT IS HIGHLIGHTED ITS TIME TO RENEW PLEASE DON'T MISS AN ISSUE.
