Review by Richard Brooks
Guernsey Foundry; Bryan Ansell sent his latest Old West figures. These are available through Pendragon Miniatures (216-8714587) or direct from Guernsey Foundry (01145-1481-714241) . . My son got an inexpensive flat bed scanner for his birthday from his Grandfather, so the image of the figures is via the scanner. While the printer doesn' t do enough dots per inch to make these look as great as they are they came out a whole lot better than a xerox copy. Anyway this will give you a general idea of the figures. I am not going to describe each figure as you can see in the Guernsey Foundry ad and the scanned figures what they look like. In general these are better then the previous batches have been, if that' s really possible. The figure animation is outstanding, there isn't a dull or just passable figure in the collection. Mark Copplestone' s attention to detail gets better and better. Every time I look at these figures I see something I missed the first time: like the belt buckle on OWA 19, or the eye patch on OWMB 4, the sombero string under the chin of OWMP 3 and the basket design on OWA 18. You should see these to believe how great they really are. Speaking of which, if you are going to Historicon, stop by the Pendragon booth and buy some of these beauties from Bryan Ansell. If you can't make it there, read the Guernsey Foundry ad carefully, mention you saw the ad in the Heliograph and Guernsey Foundry will send you five free figures with your any size order, so do it soon. Most of the figures we have seen in the movies or the Time-Life Old West book series. My son and I are going to put on a game or two with these figures at Siege of Augusta in January using "The Rules With No Name". See ya'll at the "Gunfight on the Hollywood Backlot".
