This is the last issue for a large number of readers, please re-enlist now. COLD WARS report: There were lots of gamers at the Lancaster Host 13-16 March. I even got to play in a game this year. I commanded a mixed brigade in a punative expedition against a lawless mullah. It was a close game, using a variant of TSATF, but the British managed to pull it out at the last moment. The were several colonial games to play, the best looking terrain and troops belongs to our own Bob Giglio who put on a relief column attempt on Peking. Bob made his own hills for the game and there are quite nice, I understand that Bob makes terrain to order. The Flea Market area was crowded with folks trying to sell their stuff. There wasn't a lot of colonial figures available but I did manage to buy some badly needed palm trees for my oasises. In the Dealer's area for the historically minded On Military Matters was selling Barthorp's The Frontier Ablaze for $29, and I got my copy there (see review this issue). I completed my Seven Years Wars collection of Osprey books, now I can start painting some of Guernsey Foundry's great figures of the SYW. I stopped at Old Glory to look at their new French Foreign Legion line and rules set (see the review next issue). I also picked up a few flyers and they are reported below. Moving fever has struck me hard and fast, so if I owe you a letter or such I'm sorry it's late, hold on, it's gonna get there sooner or later. All my books are gone, all that's left is the computer, printer and materials for this issue, the next issue mails from Saluda, SC. I have a phone number (864-445-3039) there if you wish to call and chat awhile on the weekends until the next issue when we'll be there fulltime. That is if the phone company can find us to put in the phone and hook me to the internet for email. So there will be a new email address as well. If we don't answer on the first couple of rings I'm out talking with the cows until they turn their backs on me and lift their tails and it's time to move on quickly. You don't worry about where you step, but stay away from flat rocks unless you want a shower. As announced last issue there are two TSATF variants, and starting this issue a scenario for any rules set. IT'S THAT TIME OF THE SUBSCRIPTION YEAR AGAIN FOR MOST OF YOU. IF THE NUMBER ON YOUR LABEL IS 100 AND IT IS HIGHLIGHTED ITS TIME TO RENEW PLEASE DON'T MISS AN ISSUE. Back to The Heliograph #100 Table of Contents © Copyright 1997 by Richard Brooks.
