Colonel Jose Ovalle (120 men) This gave the Royalist force a total of 1,894 men on the battlefield, plus an additional 500 armed civilians stationed on Panecillo while the Battalion Cataluna was at Otavalo. General Sucre is credited with capturing 1,100 men, 160 officers and officials, 14 cannon and 1,700 men. Casualties are given as; 190 Royalist and 140 Colonists, Colonial officer casualties were: Captain Molina, Captain Cabal, Captain Castro, Captain Alzuro, Lieutenant Calderon, Lieutenant Ramirez, Lieutenant Borrero, Lieutenant Arango, and Lieutenant Mendoza.
