Here's yet another scenario book for the popular Clash of Armor WW II miniatures rules. The 43 page magazine-sized book contains two pages of additional optional rules to the basic game system including a reduced ground scale for larger battles, dust rules (desert stuff...), a modification to the opportunity fire rule that makes it a bit more difficult for the defender to sucker a moving attacker, vehicle data for five more (mainly desert and France '40) vehicles, and random minor terrain. This last optional rule is a good one: Certain areas may be designated as containing minor terrain and are diced for to see whether they contain additional cover, movement hindenng obstacles, or just ineffective clutter - an altogether neat idea which, depending on how much of this sort of terrain you scatter about, makes just moving around the battlefield an adventure. There's also a page of 1/1/96 errata and a new formation morale chart that makes units less willing to take losses. The book contains six scenarios. This may not seem like a lot, but each is an extensive undertaking of the sort on which Clash of Arms Games has built its reputation. A well detailed scenario map is followed by a brief battle description, extensive setup/deployment notes, game length, applicable scenario special rules, (The Crossing of the Meuse' scenario included a page of special engineer functions), victory conditions (which range from the simple to the convoluted), extensive OB information for the scenario, and finally, equipment data summaries for all of the equipment and troops used in the scenario. Each scenario concludes with a brief historical outcome and players notes section. There are two France '40 scenarios. three North Africa/Tunisia scenarios, and one from the Nomandy Campaign. The authors have carved themselves a niche in WW II miniatures gaming with Clash of Armor and their previous two scenario books that Rommel's Battles solidifies. Rommel's Battles costs $19.95 and is available from your local gameshop, or if unavailable there, from Clash of Arms Games, the Byrne Bldg #205, Lincoln and Morgan Sts., Phoenixville, PA 19460.
