They come from across the pond. I cut my miniatures wargaming teeth on British figures and still have an avowed prejudice in their favor. Therefore I was excited about this range. For review, I received a set of 5 advancing poses, three in kepi, one bare-headed and one in a very comfortable looking slouch. the posing is quite dynamic, I especially like the two poses of advancing at slope arms. I have long held that this is the single best pose for ACW armies, looking good in march column or deployed for combat. The detail is good but not sharp enough for my taste. As a wash and dry brush painter, I need exaggeration of detail to reward my efforts. More precise brush painters may feel that this level of detailing more to their liking. The figures are well equipped for the field with shot, haversack, canteen, and cap box, with the only real weak spot being the kepis, some of which have an odd shape. Another shortcoming is the flash that is present on seemingly every figure. This is not excessive, but very bothersome, at least to me. they are however fine big fellows rating a 28M or 28H BM*. These should fit in nicely with "OLD GLORY" figures and the like for excellent armies. They go for approximately $9 for a pack of 8 figures and are sold by Brookhurst Hobbies, 12188 Brookhurst St., Garden Grove CA 92640. (714) 636-3580. Brookhurst offers substantial discounts on this line for bulk purchases. --PAUL KOCH * The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
