The Naval SITREP is the current incarnation of Harpoon SITREP, acquired from GDW by The Viking Forge. It is still edited by Larry Bond, but will be expanded to 16 pages published quarterly, and will cover all aspects of naval miniatures wargaming from 1895 to the present. MWAN (Midwest Wargamers Association Newsletter) will continue publication past no. 78, as Hal Thinglum has decided he's not completely burnt out yet. The physical quality of the magazine continues to improve, with glossy card covers, uniform desktop printing format and a glued binding on no. 77. This issue has articles on confusion in battle focussing on Butterfield's attack at Resaca, Georgia, a ruleset for the Spanish Civil War, rules for 1881 Franco-British naval engagements, TSATF special events mods, commentary by the author on the ruleset Battle Captain, WWII skirmish and ECW scenarios, and the usual commentary, reviews, letters, and columns. The Canadian Wargamers Journal is primarily concerned with board wargames, although miniatures are included in every issue. No. 43, for example, has a Legendary Battles scenario and a review of Volley ancl Bayonet. Other articles look at Piercing the Reich, April Harvest, Dixie: Bull Run, Borodino 41, Bloodiest Day, and other games. $19.00 US /4 issues from Canadian Wargamers Group, Box 1725, Station M, Calgary, Alberta T2P 2L7.

Spearpoint is the joumal of the North American Society of Ancient and Medieval Gamers, and has been showing a distinct tendency towards covering multiple rules and viewpoints, although it remains a tournament-oriented publication. The Nov/Dec issue has articles on using Normans in DBM, a naval variant for DBM, experimental WRG 7th rules for knights, a discussion of WRG approaches to rules, proposed theme rules for a Bronze Age tournament at Histoncon 96 and Jamie Fish's experiences at Historicon this year. 24 pp, $18 /6 issues and membership from Scott Dickson, Treaurer, 590 Woodend Dr. SE, Concord, NC 28025.
