I've just got a six-pack of British Paras who weigh in at 20H Barrett Measure. Their style and detailing (and the German's, below) are typical Brittania - lots of heavy detail and (occasional.) suspect body proportions. These folks have real charisma, though. One kneeling stengunner has his shirt off, his suspenclers down, and extensive bandaging for the belly wound that's shortly going to kill him. The kneeling reloading rifleman has a heavy bandage covering one eye. One kneeling trooper is reloading his recently captured MP40 (complete with ammo pouches slung over his shoulder)! Another kneeling figure is about to throw a (presumably captured, too) German stick grenade. I have a funny feeling these figures are in Arnhem. . . The two advancing riflemen, animated as they are, are almost bland by comparison. The three-pack of German tankhunters (also Barrett 20H) are equally flavorful, evoking a feeling of Berlin 1945. All three are trying to make themselves invisible, hunkering down and scuttling, more than running. One carries a Panzerfaust antitank rocket, another carries a clustered antitank stick grenade and has his left arm bandaged against his body, and the third carries an MP44 assault rifle and a magnetic antitank mine. All three carry full field gear and have camo covers on their helmets (the Brits, by the way, have netting on theirs). Avoid mixing these troops with lightweight metal or plastic figures and you'll be very happy with them. The Paras cost $6.95 and the tankhunters cost $3.95. They're available from your local gameshop, or directly from The Elite Group, at 2625 Forest Glen Trail, Riverwoods, IL 60015. - BILL RUTHERFORD Back to Table of Contents -- Courier #68 Copyright 1995 by The Courier Publishing Company. |
