THE NAVAL SITREP

The Naval Sitrep is the new form of Larry Bonds old Harpoon SITREP. The Viking Forge has taken over publication from GDW and changed the format slightly. The magazine is now a 16 page quarterly with black and white photos. It is professionally printed and well laid out. Larry Bond is still the editor and will offer articles and updates to his Harpoon and Command at Sea rules systems. The magazine is to be devoted to purely naval miniatures wargaming, with an emphasis on the post-1895 period. The issue reviewed had a Harpoon scenario for the two Koreas, an article on the Tomahawk cruise missile with rules suggestions for use in Harpoon. Notices of new releases by GHQ and Viking Forge were included. A section of errata for the Command at Sea rules was also featured. Four pages were devoted to new data sheets for Command at Sea and Harpoon. There was a review of a new book on submarines and a reprint of a Navy News Service article on the new home port plans for the shrinking American carrier force. If you game with either of Larry's two sets of rules this is probably a must have. It is also well worth a look for other naval gamers. Subscriptions are available for $15 per year from The Viking Forge, 1727 Theresa Lane, Powhatan VA 23139 - JERRY LANE
