When writing this review, Dick Bryant asked me to, and I quote, "be kind to the little guys". His words were needless; these are truly excellent little miniatures. They are 11M Barrett Measure, and simply lovely on anybody's measure. The sculpting is delicate because of the size restraints, and, of necessity, some exaggeration is present. Buttons for example, are the size of silver dollars. This does not hurt the figure and is an aid to painting. Painting would not be easy: they are small. They make excellent small scales armies. Do not be concerned with finding terrain and buildings in this scale as N gauge model railroad stuff fits perfectly. Now for some advice on using these lads. I would leave my bases the same size and simply mount more figures on them. In preparing this article, I painted and mounted a few and the Dioramic effect is spectacular. I have seen some small scale figure games and the usual effect is for the troops to be swallowed up by the terrain. Using the more-to-a-base system, this won't happen. The other end is to turn inches into centimeters and mount in that fashion. I tried this too, and really nice games can be played on the kitchen table! For those who have space constraints, this is a super way to go. GHQ markets these jewels under the title REBELLION MINIATURES, and the range is extensive with field as well as siege guns. The infantry packs hold 24 figures in 4 separate poses, an officer, slung drummer, and encased color bearer. No sign of cavalry, but it can't be far behind. Each set retails for $6.95. On Koch's MUST HAVE list they rate a 9. Available from GHQ 28100 Woodside Road, Shorewood, MN 55331.
