My original armies, decades ago, were ACW Airfix, and I still adore the scale (and the cost) of these miniatures. Thus I am always excited when, all too infrequently, a new line is launched. IMEX, out of Brooksville, Florida, has two new Union and Confederate artillery sets on the market. The quality of these figures is quite good. As is usual for plastics, the sculpting is of a much more delicate touch than lead, but fine detail, nonetheless. They calibrate a 22M on the Barrett Measure. As these sets are brand new, there is quote a lot of Silicone coating and they must be rinsed in detergent and air dried to get it off and allow for painting. The poses are excellent with some very, very close to Revell figure poses although there are some new poses, too. One gets three (3) guns, crews, a single four horse caisson team with good sized but boring horses, a fine set of limber riders, and some assorted infantry. There is a standing Union officer with binoculars which is just crying to be made into a General. For $6.OO you just can't lose. More exciting, IMEX has listed infantry, both sides and (WOW) Cavalry for both blue and gray. I can promise a new brigade of each for my games at HISTORICON, and that's for sure! On Koch's MUST HAVE list, they rank a perfect 10. Available from GAMES AFOOT in Cincinnati. - PAUL KOCH Back to Table of Contents -- Courier #68 Copyright 1995 by The Courier Publishing Company. |
