THE MAJESTIC BEAST
By Terry Mesnard
As cunning as a tiger.
As swift as a hawk.
When I fly through the sky, onlookers do gawk.
My presence spreads terror,
so children beware.
I care not who I eat,
for none shall I spare.
I roar like a lion, a hunt in the night.
With others of my kind do always I fight.
I fear no man, but all fear me.
I am mightier than the mightiest mage,
no trap can you set, nor me can you cage.
I have lived a hundred years over and not a day have I aged.
As respected as a king.
Upon coin I make a bed.
A pile of gems, I rest my head.
A dragon am I, and proud to be,
for there is none as majestic as me!
THE BIG DOUBLE -YOU EYE EYE
By Dan Lambert
When I see the rising sun
I think of death marches and Samurai swords and bayonets.
When I see the iron cross
I think of short pants and stalags and house painters
And I ask myself:
Are these things real?
Did we really storm the beaches at Normandy?
Did the thousand-year Reich really crumble into the ashes?
Was the world really made safe for democracy?
It ended twenty years before I was born.
But in my mind and on my TV
The panzers still rumble
The stukas still dive
The kamikazes still keep coming
and the Good War keeps raging out of control.
BLADES
By Dan Lambert
The surgeon's scalpel
and the muderer's bayonet
One is to hurt
And one is to heal
But both are the same
When life they do steal
Both do their work
With Nary a sound
And both are stained red
When Death comes around
