Back Up on
the Soap Box

By Bill Brierton

Since I am the president of one of the few play by mail, role playing gaming clubs, I felt I should say a few things in regards to the club forum article by Arnold Mohammed. I have no idea who Bob McLain is or what he has stated regarding role playing games and the place the play in play by mails. Although, from what I read, Mr. McLain is no fan of role playing games or play by mail. In my opinion, Mr. McLain lacks imagination and creativity.

Play by mail gaming can bring to those who do not have access to the Intermet, (yours truly belng one of them), the chance to interact with other people with similar interest, especially gaming.

Dragonslayers Unlimited was formed for these purposes, to find game masters and players, share ideas and experience via the mail system, and to encourage members to try their hand at being a GM, who might not ever get that chance. We bring together people who would not normally be able to experience their enjoyment of fantasy gamlng, because of where they currently reside.

I certainly did not form this club for profit. As Jeff can attest to, I have never asked tor reimbursement of anything I have sent out to the club membership. By rights I could have, but I choose not to for my own reasons. And if I need to tell you those reasons, all you have do is look at the last paragraph. I hope somebody in this club is willing to take up the challenge

Arnold mentioned in the last paragraph in his letter. I think we have a very creative group, and there are countless possibilities. The only problems I can foresee is that nobody takes up this opportunity and that our membership is spread out pretty far and wide. I can offer this much assistance as my time permits, but I think tor something like this maybe a club member should take up the challenge. What about YOU?
